ARCHITECTURAL THESIS (2011-12)

PROBLEM STATEMENT

‘’Imagine you and your friend are planning a hangout, and you are in search of a place which caters fun-o-dine-cum-shop under the same zone wiping out the travelling time and escaping from annoying traffic jam.’’

The main objective of designing this gratifying place is to provide youth and family a place which is a perfect blend of tranquility and adventure. There is an ARENA of fun at the heart of Lahore, A true sanctuary of hearty meriment for the youth and the whole family. The project involves the designing of such a complex comprising of number of eateries, integrated shopping area combined with the recreational facilities. Moreover, this arena will captivate youth to come and spend leisure time here despite of roaming on the roads and generating noise pollution on special national days.

LOCATION:

        The site is located in the heart of Lahore ie M.M.Alam Road, Gulberg. This road is lined with world class restaurants. It is also a PARADISE FOR SHOPPERS. It has become the most enchanting place for youth nowadays. Thus the project has the greatest feasibility over there. The main reasons for proposing this site are;

-       The Easy Accessibility; The site is easily accessible for residents of Lahore and being located in posh area of the city.

-       Feasibility of the project: The site is located in the most busy zone of the city.

PROJECT SCOPE:

                                      

·         The basic concept behind development of the project is to introduce an entertainment platform according to international standards and regulations.

·         Project is one of the series of approved projects from the P.H.A(Parks and horticulture authority)

·         Provide positive impact on environment, economy and living standards making it a standalone energy efficient structure.

·         To present socio-culture environment in terms of different spaces and attractions along with the latest developments in economics, service, communication, social control, architecture, planning etc.

·         Creating a solution for the rapid production of noise pollution.

·         A mix use development merging together all three entertaining requirements to act as a single unit.

·         The project is a LIVE one handled by the same group who designed MINI GOLF, LAHORE.

TARGET CLIENT

         The project attracts the country’s local visitors belonging to the group of middle class to upper class and local and          international tourists. YOUTH and WHOLE FAMILY are important considerations.

        RISKS AND OBSTACLES:

      The following risks in such a project could be expected as an obstacle and design challenge.

-          Security threats

-          Hygienic conditions

The above mentioned challenges would be taken into account and the architectural solutions would be provided.

IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY

Complex will comprise of three main entertainment requirements:

·         Shopping(Boutiques, Shoes, Branded shops, Jewellery, toys and stationary,etc)

·         Food area(Desi, Continental, Chinese, Italian)

·         Fun zone (Mini-golf, Gaming, Snooker, Skating, Paint ball shooting, Laser tagging, Go-karts, Pistol range, etc)

ARCHITECT  BRIEF

Since the World is an entire new development, it requires construction of projects of virtually all types; from residential to educational to commercial to entertainment. THUS, I propose an acxn complex catering fun-o-dine-cum-shop simultaneously under the same roof. It will be the best hangout place for youth as well as whole family. It will provide absolutely new trends of RARE SPORTS which are never launched by any sports complex in Pakistan before. I being an architect, propose such a platform for the youth where they can go and have fun rather than roaming on the roads and adding noise pollution in atmosphere, a platform on which RARE SPORTS will be introduced first time in Pakistan.

OTHER OPTIONS

·        LOW COST HOUSING FOR POOR PEOPLE

It will cater a housing society based on the traditional architecture and as poverty is a major issue nowadays so energy efficient houses will be designed and local material will be utilized in their construction.

·        RE-DESIGNING  OF THE LAHORE ZOO

There is no care of animals nowadays so zoo will be re-designed in order to give animals a proper space and at the same time it will entertain the visitors.

·        TRAINING SCHOOL FOR THIRD GENDER

·        COMPLEX FOR CHILDREN UPBRINGING

Children are an important component of our society so they should be treated in a better way. Their upbringing should also be in a solid way. Western trends should be adopted.
