OPTION # 2
PROPOSED TOPIC
Islamic Art Museum
PROPOSED PROBLEM
Technology is constantly changing the way we communicate. Some of these changes have been positive in nature. However, some of the changes have negatively impacted our ability to effectively send and receive messages. With globalization forcing us to keep up with the times or get left behind, it's critical that we understand these potential communication roadblocks as we incorporate new technology into our daily lives.
Technology makes life more complex. New forms of entertainment, such as video games and internet access could have possible social effects on areas such as academic performance.
Make part of people over concentrate on computering, then lost of friendly and face to face communication chance. Bad for eye watching if over look for long time.
In short, technology is dominant and gradually destroying our capabilities. Within this world of technology we have lost our culture and heritage. In this fast world of communication we have forgotten about face to face communication to exchange of different ideas. We are working like machines and have lost interest in our culture, heritage and our history which is our asset. Because we are so much indulge in these kinds of technology disasters.
SOLUTION DOMAIN
To avoid these technology disadvantages, we should provide a platform where people can communicate face to face and people can show interest in their history, culture, artifacts. This platform can bring a change in human behaviors, emotional context etc. We also can integrate both things together, technology and history.
The museum is mapped to offer a narrative that is tailored to a modern audience, offering visitors to the museum experience of a journey through time, across cultures, religions and eras.
The vision for the museum of Islamic art is rooted in the belief that education is the founding stone for the future of any prosperous society. Through a diverse range of educational materials, learning programmes and community events, the museum aims to create a platform in which public can explore the past, understand the present and play a role in shaping the future.
In Lahore we have many museums; they are serving people since many years. But much better museum can be designed for the young generation so that they can come to visit these places.

OBJECTIVES
In order to encompass the wide scope of the project it is necessary to clearly define the design objectives.
  • Creating a user friendly, interactional and environment conducive to the creative activity taking place in the building.
  • To build a relationship and partnership with museum and cultural institutes.
  • To create a national resource for research, learning and creativity.
  • To build a collection that is more than a mere assembly of masterworks; which reflects the plurality and diversity in the arts of Islamic world.
  • Creating the state of the art building employing all available modern technology in order to maximize the efficiency of the building.
  • Creating a museum which can be beneficial in order to provide complete information about Islamic religion.
  • To design a building with all state of the art functions to aid the activities taking place in the building.
  • Adequate spaces for all the functions will be provided in order to achieve maximum output out of this project.
  • The building must be complete with all amenities and infrastructure.
  • All requirements of lighting and acoustics must be fulfilled as required.

SCOPE OF WORK

The objectives of my project are
  • To study the Islamic history to get the better understanding of designing Islamic art museum.
  • To study the fields of acoustics, lighting and set designing while designing the different galleries of different exhibition things.
  • To prepare a design, keeping in mind the references taken from the past, i.e. the present museums incorporating it for the present needs and capable of future needs.
  • The museum will be equipped with all optimum facilities that are required and the design will be enough to accommodate anticipated changes.
  • The building must be designed with relevance to its location and all aspects of infrastructure, social interaction and environment must be considered.

INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT
A museum is a non-profit, permanent institution in the service of society and its development, open to the public, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment for the purposes of education, study and enjoyment.
There are so many types of museums on the basis of historical elements we have. The type of museum I’m going to take is Islamic Art Museum.
·         Islamic art encompasses the visual arts produced from the 7th century onwards by people (not necessarily Muslim) who lived within the territory that was inhabited by or ruled by culturally Islamic populations.
·         The huge field of Islamic architecture is the subject of a separate article, leaving fields as varied as calligraphy, painting, glass, ceramics, and textiles, among others.

OPTION # 3
PROPOSED TOPIC
FIVE STAR HOTEL
PROBLEM DOMAIN
Environmental issues in Pakistan threaten the population’s health and have been disturbing the balance between economic development and environmental protection. As a great problem for the nature and nation of Pakistan. Current issues are water pollution from raw sewage, industrial wastes, and agricultural runoff limited natural fresh water resources.
Air pollution has also become a major problem in most cities. There are no controls on vehicular emissions, which account for 90 percent of pollutants. The National Conservation Strategy Report claims that the average Pakistani vehicle emits twenty-five times as much carbon monoxide, twenty times as many hydrocarbons, and more than three and one-half times as much nitrous oxide in grams per kilometer as the average vehicle in the United States.
The major problem of pollution is that it is destroying our environment, nature and other activities. People have no peace of mind in urban areas. Even recreational spaces like hotels, resorts, complexes, cinemas, and theaters are encroached by so many activities and affected by pollution so these places in urban domain are usually avoided by the users, because people want spaces where they can be comfortable and can enjoy nature, greenery and other natural resources for peace of mind. Sustainable development strategies must be considered.

SOLUTION DOMAIN
It is finding between organic gardening and a lifestyle based on simplicity. Both are enriched with experience and creativity. If we incorporate nature and recreational activities together we can achieve maximum sustainability and comfort for users.
For this purpose we can design resort or hotel on water front, or in hilly areas. This will decrease pollution and will make the environment ideal for visit or living. Beyond urban areas a hotel can be designed to serve people and their need at its best.

OBJECTIVES
·         Creating a user friendly space and environment conducive to the make environment luxurious for users.
  • Creating the state of the building employing all available modern technology in order to maximize the efficiency of the building and also some touch from mughal period historic buildings.
  • Using technology and design principles to minimize the energy expenditure in the building.
  • Creating a self reliant hotel catering to all the requirements of the best living and recreational activities.

Hafsa Synopsis

PROJECT 1:
Architecture as a mentor….
After a four year study at an architectural school, I have glimpsed into many aspects relating to architecture. Out of this diverse phenomenon, I have concluded that the multiplicity is yet to be explored and has a scope of experimentation. Over the years we have seen that architecture has been an identity of civilizations. Their way of living, their norms, traits, traditions, conventions .ideas, thoughts, customs and reaction towards life has always been depicted by the architecture of that society. It has always been affecting and influencing the environment all around.
I hereby think to utilize this strong architectural influence into making a positive and strong character building power. Using the strength of spaces, combining it with the persuasive forces of the setting around and using built environment as a source of bringing the positive energies among people together to create a serene and deep thought provoking realization of one’s inner self and abilities and the responsibilities towards the society.
Project brief:
Representing architecture as a poetic expression is how we can design a place that adds to the positive upbringing of the society. By poetic expression: I mean the harmony, rhythm, relevance, silent communication, hidden morals and one’s individual perspective and way of relating and inferring conclusions. This all could be combined into forming an existing structure or a series of spaces that is truly physical in nature and proves to be a deep passive trainer.
I thought to design a “Youth training Center” which defies the distinction of caste, creed, and color among people and bring people from all over the world from various schools of thoughts and different religious backgrounds to share a platform and exchange humanism and  which should represent the demands that good architecture must meet, expressed as directions in which the association of ideas may take the observer.
Going through the essay the “Seven Lamps of Architecture” published in book form in May 1849 by art critic and theorist John Ruskin; following could be some areas where I can work on this project, which is truly spiritual, divine and influential in nature.
Sacrifice –
Truth
Power –
Beauty –
Life –
Memory –
 Obedience –

PROJECT 2:
Architecture as a life saver for the generations to come ….

Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and agricultural systems that are modeled on the relationships found in natural ecologies. The word 'permaculture' was coined as a contraction of permanent (sustainable) and agriculture.
Owing to the growing population and having a futuristic and visionary approach towards the emerging sprawl of the world, SKY FARMING, could be a preferable solution to feed the people today and tomorrow.
In a country with numerous natural resources and agriculturally sound scenario, we have been ignoring this blessing of God for a long time. The yield we are getting from the land farming can be multiplied to millions if we make an effort to introduce this concept in our society and try to make up our minds to invest for tomorrows success.
The following statistics show us that how desperately we would we needing the sky farming to be done in the future… so why not today???
Statistics:   By the year 2050, nearly 80% of the earth's population will reside in urban centers. Applying the most conservative estimates to current demographic trends, the human population will increase by about 3 billion people during the interim. An estimated 109hectares of new land (about 20% more land than is represented by the country of Brazil) will be needed to grow enough food to feed them, if traditional farming practices continue as they are practiced today. At present, throughout the world, over 80% of the land that is suitable for raising crops is in use (sources: FAO and NASA). Historically, some 15% of that has been laid waste by poor management practices.
Design brief:
Following the concept given by Dr.Dickson Despommier, who states that creating the hydroponic greenhouse optimum conditions, we can produce organic vegetables and dairy products by farming vertically and multiplying the horizontal farm yield.
Some of the critics have suggested that it will cost much more than it will repay and is practically not possible. But the point to ponder is that nothing was possible until it was made.
We can make a totally self sustainable structure which is giving us a huge yield of agriculture to fulfill our domestic requirements and can also help us boost up our economy by trading those freshly made organic vegetables and fruits.
Using geodesic skin structure with rain water collectors, photovoltaic cells, wind turbines, this skyscraper can stand on its own with a lot to give us. Another suitable proposal could be bringing all the waste disposal of the city to this tower where we have a waste management and a renewable energy generation plant that can help us serving both the purposes simultaneously.
PROJECT 3:
Architecture as an extraterrestrial vision from today’s eye……….
By extraterrestrial I mean beyond earth. And the phrase “ today’s eye: is  throwing light on the fact that some things might sound impossible when seen in today’s scenario but keeping ourselves focused on the rapidly increasing technology and the enormously growing requirements of the sprawling world, these things are not actually impossible.
So giving off any innovative idea for the sake of not being practical now does not suit any designer and never allows ceasing his powerful imagination that can do wonders in the future.
I hereby, want to introduce a concept that according to me would be a need of tomorrow. A FUTURE CITY: which not only explores the vertical flight of architectural achievements but also experiences the horizontal voyage of a man made structure.
Introducing the concept of a City above a city, which practically means to double the land, resources, facilities, amenities and all the basic standards of living.
We see that the concept of “vertical cities “has been introduced and is facing a lot of criticism for not being a practical solution to the prevailing problems and the predicted ones. I strongly condemn this criticism as it restricts the human mind in the present day problems and conflicts and does not let it fly high and think for the generation to come.
Design Brief:
The blurred image of my imagination of this city dictates that some parts of the city will be doubled and will flee high in the sky with strong vertical supports that will definitely be serving some purpose. This will reduce the horizontal urban sprawl and will let us use the natural minerals and resources of the earth and maximum of the zones of the city will be accommodated in the vertical towers. The horizontal spread will help us use the land for the outdoor functions and as an open interaction with the sky and the universe around.
Both the cities (the existing which will be modified and the newly built) will act as a unified combination of functions and requirements. From residential to commercial to economic to social to cultural to political…all sorts of city life will be incorporated in this twin city concept with one offering life and the other offering food..one offering intercity travelling and the other offering outer city travelling… hence the functions will be revised and re  divided accordingly.

With the growing population, one day or the other the earth will fall short of the land and we will have to recreate it.
LISTING THE THOUGHTS…….
Consideration 5:
ARCHITECTURE ADDRESSING THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY AS A WATERSCRAPER:
Underwater has always been attractive and curiosity for human beings. Exploring, employing and being part of underwater has been a challenge for them at all times. The first underwater structures were products of engineering studies and have been used for fields of scientific researches and observations, military purposes and obtaining energy for centuries. However, underwater is a new medium for human for accommodation and entertainment purposes; and correspondingly new subject which is worth to study for architects. Accordingly, underwater hotel and restaurant projects were realized. Currently, underwater structures can be uttered as a fantasy and a new understanding for architecture, however in the future underwater may be suggested as a new accommodation area. As a result of curiosity, desire, challenge, and the developments in technology; underwater became unique with its characteristics and providing unusual experiences. Correspondingly, it is a new subject to study for architects.
Areas:
Theme park
Water sports club
Archaeological research department
Resort
Restaurants
Marine life museums
Multiplex
Theatres
Shopping arenas

Consideration 6:
DWELINGS FOR SLUMS:
For minimizing the illegal occupation of our legal assets and to provide the citizens that lie below the poverty line, I suggest to provide them with the alternate dwellings which are affordable and durable for them. Making use of the recyclable and waste material that can be very well collected out of the town and can be made use to form structures, people can live in and support themselves to greater extent .

Consideration 7:
SHELTER FOR WAR AND CLIMATE AFFECTED REFUGEES:
Realizing the importance of the outcome of the intermingling and undue merger of the war affected refugees into any country’s social and political infrastructure, makes me think of this project.  Experiencing the conditions of Pakistan, after the USSR war invasion in Afghanistan and Pakistan being a humble and hospitable support has given us enough wisdom that by now we truly understand that any country who is catering to the people in exile has to have a certain policy and strategy. For this purpose I think we should restrict these refuges to a certain and provide them with all the allied facilities there and then. This needs to be given a proper thought and a built environment has to be designed in such a way that it caters to the needs of the people coming in as well as restricting their undue intervention.
Units and dwellings referring to mobile architecture can be designed for this purpose to let a new town settle in for a required period of time and can be taken off from them as per the requirement. These units can also be used for humanitarian refuges like those affected by natural calamities and disasters: floods and earthquakes.
Hence, these mobile dwellings can prove to be helpful and fruitful for unpredicted and adverse conditions and as a safe backup option.

Consideration 8:
CULTURAL COMPLEX:
Art galleries
Museums
Theatre
Performing arts centre
Artist’s studio
Concert halls
Memorials
Libraries
Public  recreational spaces
All these things under one roof  to bring our heritage and culture to the surface and to enlighten the power of togetherness and strengthen the bond with ones heredity.

Unmole Synopsis

PROJECT 1
THE IDEA
In ancient times we lived with the Wilderness, fighting against its severity and its roughness, and receiving the benefits of its fertility. The wildness of nature was directly related to our lives. In our current age, we live in cities. A city is a large, man-made environment, in which we no longer think much about the power of nature, except when we are shocked by occasional natural disasters, such as storms, floods, droughts and earthquakes. However, we still instinctively recall the lives of our ancestors, and have complex feelings of fear and yearning for life in the Wilderness.
The Wilderness can be of any type: deep forest, thick forest, a vast meadow, a desert, or in the sea. Or, a design a shelter against natural disasters such as storms, earthquakes or heavy snow. The structure of the house can be timber, masonry, rammed earth or it can be made with the super-alloys that are used for spaceships.
Providing a city to the people of this world which is unique in its own sense and it reminds them the true realities of their past when they actually enjoyed everything. The city will be a breathing place for the people and a shelter home where they can once live again with their past which was better than today.
THE DESIGN
The form of the city will be created using generative architecture and parametric design. Generative design is a design method where the output – image, sound, architectural models, animation – is generated by a set of rules or an Algorithm. The form will follow evolution and growth.
For a work of art to be considered algorithmic art, its creation must include a process based on an algorithm devised by the artist. Here, an algorithm is simply a detailed recipe for the design and possibly execution of an artwork, which may include computer code, functions, expressions, or other input which ultimately determines the form the art will take. This input may be mathematical, computational, or generative in nature. Inasmuch as algorithms tend to be deterministic, meaning that their repeated execution would always result in the production of identical artworks, some external factor is usually introduced. This can either be a random number generator of some sort, or an external body of data (which can range from recorded heartbeats to frames of a movie?) Some artists also work with organically based gestural input which is then modified by an algorithm.
By this definition, algorithmic art is not to be confused with graphical methods such as generating a fractal out of a fractal program; it is necessarily concerned with the human factor (one's own algorithm, and not one that is pre-set in a package). The artist must be concerned with the most appropriate expression for their idea, just as a painter would be most concerned with the best application of colors. By this definition, defaulting to something like a fractal generator (and using it for all or most of your creations) would in essence be letting the computer dictate the form of the final work, and not truly be a creative art. The artist's self-made algorithms are an integral part of the authorship, as well as being a medium through which their ideas are conveyed.
All of the forms shown are generated using the same single process; only the variables that control the process’ division operation are allowed to change. This single process affects both the form’s topography and topology. It influences attributes such as the degree of branching, porosity, and fractionalization – just to name a few. The process also works at multiple scales: it affects not only the overall shape, but it determines the surface development as well as the generation of miniscule textures. The resulting forms display a novel aesthetic and an astounding complexity that largely defies attempts at reductionism.

PROJECT 2
THE IDEA
I am starting off with targeting a social problem that one of the class of society facing these days, I m specifying prostitutes, she males and sexually or physically abused women of the society. I want to provide this class a secure and well protected future. They need a free space where they can live their life according to their free will.
In reference to prostitutes I m not referring to provide them with a place where they can practice their profession rather this will be a shelter home for those who want an escape from their world and live a life like other normal people of the society. It might also be a rehabilitation centre for them or a small part of the place can turn into it for them. They will be able to live a normal life like other people have.
Areas accommodated
·         Training centre
·         Education
·         Residential
·         Legal advice

CASE STUDY
MYSORE, DEC 14: A rehabilitation programme to wean away around 80 women from the flesh trade is taking shape at Chamundi Hills.
The rehabilitation centre, Shakthidhama, the brainchild of Suttur Math seer Shivarathi Deshikendra Swami, Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar and his wife Parvathamma is nearing completion on a plot of 1.5 acres of land.
Inmates below 35 years would be enrolled at the centre and would be counselled in the first round to keep them from going back to prostitution. Jayadev, managing trustee of Shakthidhama, speaking to The Indian Express said: "Women involved in prostitution in the city and outskirts would be taken in.'' A two-year stay in the centre, he said, would train the women in skilled work to make them financially independent.
After a preliminary medical check-up, they would be trained in literacy programme, book binding, and preparation of bakery products. On the daily routine, he said counseling on environment protection; regular prayers would also be a part.
Social workers and counselors at the centre will regularly hold sessions to mould the inmates' personality. And the returns from the sale of handicraft goods produced at the centre would be deposited in the individual accounts of the inmates, they claimed.
Nursery classes are also being planned for children of the inmates. For those who have contracted AIDS, the centre would keep in touch with voluntary organizations working on the issue.
A premier research institute in Mysore, CFTRI, has come forward to offer training to the inmates in preparing bakery products and the Zilla Panchayat will install solar heaters and the District Industrial Centers will provide book binding machines at 50 per cent subsidy.
In a bid to check migration of destitute women from rural to urban areas, Jaydev has planned to start a rural development wing with the assistance of the Central Government and United Nation Population Fund (UNPF). Health camps, awareness camps on hygiene, environment and community participation in development of villages would also be held.
He further pointed out that the scourge should be checked at its root and rural development programs "would make the vulnerable group, take up alternative profession''. He opined that if it is not checked at its roots, influx into the city for flesh trade would continue.
Case-sheets at three stages would provide enough inputs about the behavioral change of the inmates; he said adding that a confidential report would be maintained by the counselors. The data collected on the reasons for women taking up prostitution would help in checking new entrants.
On the response to the centre, he said many victims of the flesh trade have already approached and have evinced interest in the programme. They have come to make a fresh start and the centre would provide it, he further stated.
Besides this, the centre has planned to construct an `all religions hall' without sticking to religious strictures. The rehabilitation centre has drawn the attention of many non-governmental organizations.

PROJECT 3
THE IDEA
Today life is full of stress and anxiety and especially in metropolitan cities situation is the worst. Everyone is busy with his life, no time for family and himself even. Every person is running behind his hectic schedule. Life become so fast but still no time to relax for 5 minute and release the stress. No need to explain, you can easily analyze when you are in hurry to reach the office thinking of some of your personal tensions and then the whole day hectic schedule. Entertainment can add salt in this discomfort and distasteful life. It is the way of entertainment which keeps the life going. Else life becomes very dull and boring. Entertainment gives the life its charm and energy. If entertainment is removed from life then there will be a blank left behind. To fill this blank we need moments of entertainment in life. And some of these special moments become memories of future.
Entertainment can be of any type depending on one's choice and likes. There are so many electronic gadgets available to give entertaining moments to minds like the most common is T.V. and music systems. A tired person after coming back from office, if got a 15 minute time to watch its favorite show then that time is enough to relax his tiring mind. This small time period of entertainment can give a smile and a soothing effect to his mind. Music is a great way to relive the day to day stress and is also used for therapeutic purposes. Almost every person is interested in any kind of music. Even researches have proved that music's ubiquity and portability has made it the number one stress buster. It is a matter of fact that everyone on this earth has an inclination towards listening good quality music. The passion for music differs as per genre whereby youngsters mostly love fast and groovy numbers. People of the older times love classical music whereas kids like rhymes and children music. Not only this, many are attracted to listen natural sounds such as chirping of birds, water falling from the mountains and religious chants. When a person sits down with his eyes closed to listen his favorite music, the heart beat goes balanced and mind got relaxed. Music tunes the soul and renews the body. Playing music also relaxes the mind and slows down the tension. Interested people find pleasure in playing his favorite instrument. A piano or a guitar strings can give immense pleasure to a stressed mind.
Other than music, reading is one of the good sources of entertainment. People who love reading can go for good source of stuff to read. It can help relieve stress and definitely reenergize the mind. Reading is a very good habit. It not only helps to gain knowledge but creates good vocabulary and helps to have a better look of the outside world. Going out for picnic, chatting with family members or friends, dancing, singing etc. can give pleasure to a tired and sick mind. These simple ways lift up the mood and can buzz the day and put the life at an ease. In short, any sort of entertainment should be there in life to remove the boredom of life and to make the life dynamic and exciting always.
So all this will be provided to the people under one roof where they can relax themselves and take out sometime for themselves.

THE DESIGN

With the increase in population the land occupying rate by the people is increasing. In a populated city like Pakistan its will be hard to build such a large entertainment complex on a piece of land. It will be like snatching away the land from the people who deserve it. I am planning to build a flat tower, which will be a sustainable structure, providing energy to itself as well as the constructions below it.

The design will also be an inspiration from some natural form as it will be close to nature. For example:
Vincent Callebaut’s Coral Reef concept in Haiti “plans a matrix to build a three dimensional and energy self-sufficient village” for refugees from humanitarian crises. Anyway, Coral Reef draws on the “fluid and organic shapes” of the ocean, while “the overall project presents itself as a great living structure made of two waves dedicated to accommodate more than one thousand Haitian families”.

An ‘urban ecology’ concept city for Kuala Lumpur proposes a ‘mushroom city’ as an alternative to the usual high rise solution to densely populated urban living.

CASE STUDY
Beehive skyscraper: biomimetics and sustainable design
Architecture is an important area of application in developing concepts inspired by natural forms. Today is the turn of Flat Tower, an approach to sustainable urban living
As concept for the future development of the city of Rennes, the hive-like structure of cells is intended to integrate high density living with open and agricultural space, as well as optimize space for solar power collection. It looks totally futuristic, which of course it is.

PROJECT 4
A cultural center: building or complex that promotes culture and arts. Cultural centers can be neighborhood community arts organizations, private facilities, government-sponsored, or activist-run. The centre will be a landmark in itself that is it will be a skyscraper. The skyscraper is also eco-friendly as most designs and features solar panels, water collectors, and wind turbines. Cultural richness and diversity in use, sustainability, and innovation particular to climatic influences in the region were primary drivers for concept development.
PROJECT 5
A museum and preservation centre for the extinct species of the land and the water. The museum will take you in Stone Age. Describing any living group as 'primitive' or 'Stone Age' inevitably implies that they are living representatives of some earlier stage of human development that the majority of humankind has left behind. For some, this could be a positive description, implying, for example, that such groups live in greater harmony with nature.... For others, 'primitive' is a negative characterization. For them, 'primitive' denotes irrational use of resources and absence of the intellectual and moral standards of 'civilized' human societies.... From the standpoint of anthropological knowledge, both these views are equally one-sided and simplistic.
The Fundamental idea is to create an iconic building that represents the culture in which it is immersed, to remind the native people where they come from in order to promote this philosophy to the outside world. Materializing this ancient philosophy in a cutting edge building connects the past with the present, giving long life to a culture that must be projected into the future. The vision of this building is the integration with its natural and urban environment, besides being spectacular, creates public spaces and nature.
PROJECT 6
A youth club or youth social club is a place where young people can meet and enjoy activities such as football, soccer, basketball, table tennis, or video games, and other religious, sports activities are frequently sponsored by a community center. Clubs and Projects are open to all people aged 10-21 and are places where you can go to meet your friends, make new friends, and learn or try new activities, some of which may be completely new to you. Young people can drop in to a youth club center any time and are welcome by the youth workers working there. Youth workers will encourage you to join in the club's programs. You could learn a new skill like music or computing, or possibly plan a trip away. You are also able to relax and listen to music or play pool, table tennis and much, much more - there are often activities specifically for girls and young women.
This youth club will follow prosthetic architecture. The idea of prosthesis sets up an interesting situation which questions the boundaries between existing private areas and adjacent proposed public programs. Prosthetic architecture has the ability to “cut out” detrimental facades and compromised structure and replaces them with a new formal species which will set up a dialogue between old and new.
Architecture is a prosthetic device, and, similar to other cultural expressions like language, fashion or art, submissive to continuous transformation. A successful prosthesis is able to answer a number of change conditions, but also undergo a process of modification, differentiation — in short, a process of evolution. Prosthetics can be mapped according to ‘technologies of the body’ that range from restorative over normalizing (imposing new social or aesthetic norms) to reconfiguring (changing the contextual relations) and enhancing (increasing functions or properties) aspects.

PROJECT 7
Film studios built in recycled architecture. On an urban waste land, by using the waste materials like metal, steel, bottles and other materials a building will be formed.

Zukhraf Synopsis

TOPIC 1: COMMUNITY FOR OLD AND SHOPPING MALL FOR ECONOMICAL SUPPORT OF THAT COMMUNITY:
PROPSED PROBLEM:
Family values were once very important in our society. Grandparents, parents or any elderly member was considered as a backbone of particular household. They were respected and loved but now times have changed.  Growing inflation, economic disorder in the country, westernization and materialistic thinking has destroyed our precious relationships and values. Grandparents are now considered as burden on their families. In many of our eastern household these elderly people are either thrown out of the houses or forced to live a miserable life in their own houses, confined to their rooms.
Therefore I plan to design a community for these abandoned oldies so that they can spend their remaining life with dignity which is their right.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
The research will be done using
·         Local and international case studies
·         Thesis done this topic before
·         Studies on behavior of elderly ….on their psychology...
·         Studying the behavior of elderly around me…
INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT:
SITE
The site will be most probably in Lahore. Abandoning of the old is more common in large urban societies as compared to small cites and rural areas
FACILITIES
This community will comprise of:
·         Residential space for the old
·         Medical facilities
·         Spaces of entertainment keeping in mind the psychology of the residents
·         Library..etc
This is just an outline of what this community will have for its residents. A detailed study will be carried out to figure out the needs and desires of the elderly. Their psychology has to be studied in order to provide them all the facilities they deserve.
SHOPPING MALL
This community is not supported by government so all the funds and money has to be raised by the admin. In order to run this community a shopping mall is to be designed …open for public. Some percentage of the money earned through this shopping mall will be utilized in running this community, thus minimizing its dependency on funds.
The shopping mall will contain shops of all kind and areas of entertainment.
WHY I CHOSE THIS TOPIC:
The reason of choosing this topic is to treasure our elders as we used to do in past. To support them in their old age as they supported their children in their young ages and to let them live a life of dignity. To give them a home.
The elderly men and women sleeping on the footpaths of Lahore….with no homes to live in…leftovers to eat are the main reason I chose this project.
Due to all these reasons I am more interested in doing this project.

TOPIC 2: DESIGNERS HUB
Design and art industries are flourishing in our country. Every year many youngsters enter into the fields of fashion, interior design, product design, graphic design, jewelry design, furniture design etc...these designers and their outlets are scattered all over Pakistan..why not bring them all together….create a platform where all designers related to all fields of arts can work together….working in an artistic environment .When these industries are so connected why separating them.
A person has to wander around in markets to get all these designer’s services ….the solution to this problem is to give them a platform where they can find all design industries.
There are very few platforms for the young designers to display their work…designers hub will provide them this opportunity…
To bring all the labor related to these industries together…
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
The research will be done using
·         Local and international case studies
·         Thesis done this topic before
·         Studying all these design industries briefly
INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT
A multistory building majorly having:
·         Outlets of the designers
·         Workshops for each designer
·         Exhibition halls/ ramps etc
·         Workshops of craftsmen/ all kind of labor related to industries
·         Apartments for young designers
WHY I CHOSE THIS PROJECT
I chose this project in order to promote these industries
·         Giving them a artistic environment to work in …take inspiration from each other…combining different arts and start thinking out of the box so that they can compete with the international world.
·         Giving young designers a platform.
·         Giving customers a platform where they can find all kind of design industries

3: THE EMBASSY OF PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
The Pakistan China friendship is all known. So as a tribute to this friendship and to enhance the bond between the two nations I propose we Pakistanis design this embassy for them.
It will give Pakistan a chance to understand Chinese culture and Chinese people more
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
The research will be done using
·         Local and international case studies
·         Thesis done this topic before
·         Studying Chinese architecture and culture
INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT:
The embassy building will be divided into various floors. The major zoning will be
Admin zone
Public zone…area where public as access
Private zone ….for the embassy officials
Few outdoor areas open for public keeping in mind the security so that people can get in touch with Chinese culture
WHY I CHOSE THIS PROJECT
To enhance Pak China friendship.
To let our people know what Chinese culture is all about.
